This week pupils participated in Maths Week 2015, an all island celebration of Mathematics. Pupils played maths games, constructed 3D shapes  participated in maths trails, completed puzzles and even found time to take part in a maths quiz!

Congratulations to Brian Nolan and Gearóid Corrigan who qualified for the 2015 All-Ireland MATHletes Challenge Championship Finals which took place on Saturday, May 2nd at Dublin City University. Both pupils first of all had a very difficult job making the provincial finals where over 12,000 MATHletes were narrowed down to 680 for the provincial playoffs. Brian Nolan was crowned the 5th class Munster provincial champion and both boys qualified for the All-Ireland finals in Dublin. Despite their best efforts, they didn’t finish in the top three places. We are extremely proud of their efforts and look forward to taking on the MATHletes Challenge again in 2016!

Pupils from 4th-6th classes went on a symmetry hunt in the classroom and  the school grounds to identify symmetry in the environment. We discovered line symmetry in the built and natural environments!
