Rearcross National School

Last Friday Tipperary County Council held its annual Tidy Schools’ awards evening for the Nenagh Municipal District. Last May our school was inspected and the following areas were examined: our litter management policy, litter awareness, tidiness of the school grounds and the overall appreciation of the environment. We were delighted to receive the award of ‘Most Consistent School’.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sheila Carey (Green-Schools Coordinator) and Billy Nolan (Caretaker) for their excellent work  in maintaining and enhancing the physical appearance of our school.

There was great excitement last week when both the Liam McCarthy Cup and the Irish Press Cup paid a visit to the school. Tipperary hurler and All-Ireland winner Donagh Maher spoke to the students about life as an inter-county player, offering advice and answered lots of questions. This week the pupils took part in our annual Anti-Bullying Week. Anti-Bullying Week shines a spotlight on bullying and encourages all children to take action against bullying throughout the year. Students engaged in different activities and events each day including poster and slogan competitions, bullying and friendship role-plays and a random act of kindness day!

Well done to everyone who brought in boxes for this year’s Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. Nearly 50 boxes were collected in the school. Buíochas ó chroí to the parents and children who sent in boxes for this special cause.

Parents wishing to enrol their children for the 2017 / 2018 school year should now contact the school for an enrolment form. Completed forms are to be returned to the school no later than November 30^th 2016.
